What is the GED®?
The GED® (General Educational Development) is an internationally recognised high school equivalency certificate, registered at NQF Level 4 – the same level as a National Senior Certificate (Matric). It is accepted by universities, employers, and training institutions across South Africa and worldwide.
You have up to 24 months to complete all four subjects at your own pace. Flexible and designed to fit around work, family, and other commitments.
Some South African institutions may require a SAQA verification letter to confirm the GED as a foreign qualification. We will gladly assist you with the application process and guidance.
GED® Subjects
The GED® exam covers four subject areas. Our curriculum is designed to help you master each one with confidence.
Basic maths, geometry, algebra, graphs, and functions. Focus on problem-solving and quantitative reasoning skills needed for real-world applications.
Reading comprehension, grammar, essay writing, and critical analysis of literary and informational texts.
Life science, physical science, and earth/space science. Emphasis on scientific reasoning, interpreting data, and understanding experiments.
History, civics, geography, and economics. Focus on critical thinking, analysing primary sources, and understanding civic principles.

What Our Students Say
"It was the light at the end of the tunnel. Evergreen really showed me that I can and it gave me the motivation to completing my GED. I never once felt like I was pressured to do schoolwork just because I have to. It helped me to understand my ways of learning and it adapted to it. At Evergreen I never felt like I was doing schoolwork it always felt like I was learning more about the things I'm actually interested in. To sum up my experience with Evergreen in general is that it's a family where everyone is on their own mission and all going different directions for different reasons, but everyone is welcome and cared for in their own special way."
"Absolutely AMAZING! Juffrou Carien was my teacher and I got so much support and help from her. Being part of the GED program was truly life-changing for me, and a huge part of that is because of the incredible teacher I had. From the very beginning, they created a supportive and encouraging environment where I felt seen, heard, and capable. They didn't just teach the material—they believed in me, even during moments when I doubted myself. Their patience, guidance, and genuine care made all the difference in my journey. Thanks to their support, I gained not only knowledge but also confidence in myself and my abilities. I would highly recommend this program to anyone, especially because of teachers like them who truly care about their students' success."
"The support I received from Evergreen Education Centre was exceptional. Their approach was focused, patient, and well-suited to my individual learning pace and style. Whenever I encountered a challenge or needed assistance, the teachers were always there to guide me step by step. Their dedication made a significant difference in my learning experience, and I truly appreciate their support."
"It made everything so much easier and way less stressful knowing I can always ask if I needed help or support."
"We have been struggling for more than 4 years to find a school for our son who does not fit the 'mould' for mainstream schools. We discovered Evergreen last year through the recommendation of a well respected Psychologist. What a refreshing experience! Carien Maree has exceptional understanding of the struggles that these children face and treats each child according to his or her own needs. I can confidently recommend Evergreen to any child who needs an alternative school set-up."
